Google Suddenly Revokes Demands to Uber

Since early 2017, Google and Uber have been wrapped up in serious legal issues. Waymo, the unmanned division under Alphabet who also oversees Google, accused Uber of stealing his technology patent.

After months of argument, Google softened by removing the majority of patent claims to Uber. Of the four demands, only one is left to undergo a legal process.

Uber's spokesman spoke up for a sudden reaction from Google. According to him, Google's actions indicate the technology giant can not prove its demands so far.

'They now recognize that the design of LiDAR (Uber unmanned car project) is very different from their products,' he said, as reported TechCrunch and compiled KompasTekno, Sunday (9/7/2017).

Furthermore, Uber's spokesperson provided a conspirative point of view over Google's demands a few months ago. He suspects Google's demands from the beginning are not based on strong evidence.

'They focus on sensations, not substance,' Uber spokesman said.

Meanwhile, despite having revoked three demands, Google Waymo still leaves one claim for Uber. According to Waymo's spokesperson, they will focus on deepening the demands by gathering strong evidence.

'We are continuing to build cases with more evidence being found. We hope to share this evidence in court, 'he said.

Known, Google through Waymo first filed suit in February 2017. Waymo said that in December 2015 a former Google executive named Anthony Levandowsky stole 14,000 files related to the company's unmanned car technology.

Levandowski then founded an unmanned truck company called Otto, which was later acquired by Uber. According to Waymo's allegations, the stolen data was then used to develop Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) systems to detect distances and obstacles in Uber unmanned cars.

Waymo reinforces his accusations with testimonials of a number of witnesses, along with recording of Levandowsky's activity while stealing data from Google's system. Uber has since dismissed the allegations and said Waymo's claim is 'unfounded'.

Uber Owe Rp 600 Million to the Driver
Uber was again in trouble. The ride-sharing service was protested by its driver in New York, USA, as it provided revenue below the initial deal price.

This error has been acknowledged by Uber under the pretext of error when counting. Supposedly, drivers receive 25 percent of the tariffs paid by passengers, excluding taxes and other income.

Instead, Uber instead gives 25 percent of the drivers' rights including taxes and other income. This calculation error is found when Uber makes more detailed receipts for drivers.

As a result, the driver's wrath and ask for their full rights immediately paid off, as reported Gizmodo and compiled KompasTekno, Wednesday (24/05/2017).

This error has been happening since 2014. Uber was committed to pay its debts on the lack of driver earnings so far.

According to Uber, the average driver in New York will get 900 US dollars or Rp 12 million from the miscalculation. In total, Uber approximately owes 45,000 US dollars or Rp 600 million to the driver.

'We will pay each driver's associate for their rights as soon as possible. We are working hard to restore the driver's confidence, 'said Uber GM in the US and Canada, Rachel Holt.

This calculation error is not the first time. Earlier this year, incorrect calculations led to lower driver earnings than expected in Philadelphia, USA. The problem has been resolved.
